Comment Period on Chemical Exposer Rule Extended Until October, OSHA Announces

Two more seasons will come and go before time runs out for the public to comment on a proposal for managing hazardous chemical exposure in the workplace.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the nation’s leading enforcer of workplace safety rules, yesterday announced an extension of the comment period for this proposal until Oct. 9, 2015. That will mark the one-year anniversary since the initial request for information was issued. The purpose of that request is to solicit “stakeholder input about more effective and efficient approaches to address workplace conditions where workers are exposed to chemicals.”

OSHA extended the comment period in response to requests by those stakeholders for more time to research and formulate responses to questions in the request, it said.

The official notice will be published in the Federal Register. Comments may be submitted electronically at, the Federal eRulemaking Portal, by mail or facsimile.
