Idaho, US DOL Ink Agreement to Coordinate Enforcement on Employee Misclassifications

Idaho is the latest state to sign a formal agreement with the U.S. Department of Labor to share information and coordinate law enforcement efforts to prevent employers from misclassifying employees as independent contractors or with other non-employee statuses.

DOL has concluded similar agreements–or memoranda of understanding–with California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming agencies.

That’s about half the country. And shows how seriously DOL takes the matter.

Read more about this agreement with Idaho. It includes a link to the web site of Idaho’s Labor Department, where you can read up on what employers and workers need to know about independent contractors vs. employees.

I’m pleased to see that Idaho’s Labor Department picked up this post.
