Female Sales Rep Underpaid, EEOC Alleges in Title VII and EPA Suit Against California Company

The fight for equal pay for equal work is playing out in the nation’s courtrooms case-by-case.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission took another step in the direction of compensation equality today when it sued a California company alleging it paid a female sales representative less than a man. According to the lawsuit against Spec Formliners, Inc., a Santa Ana, Calif.-based concrete liner company, the company paid the woman less in base pay then the male sales representative and also required her to sell more to earn the same commission as him.
